Tinubu Attacked For Allegedly Standing Against Buhari’s Nomination Of Ambode As Minister

0

Tinubu is alleged to be blocking moves by President Buhari to appoint Akinwunmi Ambode into the federal cabinet.

Bola Tinubu
The Save Lagos Group (SLG) has attacked the National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu asking him to stop playing God over allegations that he is blocking moves by President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint the immediate past Governor of the State, Akinwunmi Ambode as Minister.
The group said it was reacting to a purported statement by the former Lagos governor that he (Tinubu) would resign his membership of the APC if President Buhari nominates Ambode as ministerial nominee from the State, Daily Post reports.
In a statement by the SLG’s Convener, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman on Tuesday, the group stated: “Tinubu has turned himself to Alpha and Omega of the State nay Nigeria politics, forgetting that only God gives and takes power and no human being can act like God.”
SLG maintained that “all the ideas of Tinubu in the political armament of the State and Nigeria was parochial and self serving.

“Ambode is more qualified than Tinubu because Ambode is educationally qualified to hold any position including Minister in the country, because he doesn’t have ‘Chicagogate’ on his educational qualification like Mr. Godfatherism.”

Wow! 41-year-old Man Weds 13-year-old Girl Just 3 Months After Meeting On Faceboo(photo)

0

A 41-year-old man has gotten married to a very young girl just about three months after meeting on Facebook.
The man married the young girl
Over the past couple of years, the Indonesian province of South Sulawesi has been in the news with alarming frequency for viral stories of children getting married, either among themselves or with much older adults.
According to reports, a 41-year-old widower named Rustam Ashary last week married a 13-year-old girl, who has been identified by her initials SW, both of whom are from the Sidrap regency of South Sulawesi.
Rustam met SW on Facebook, and the pair reportedly communicated via the social media platform for three months before deciding to marry.
“We the families gave our blessings to their relationship,” SW’s mother, Nurhayati, told Detik after her child’s marriage, insisting that her daughter was never pressured into marrying Rustam and that they are now happy together.
“She’s still in Grade 1 at an MTs (religious middle school, equivalent to grade 7),” Nurhayati added when asked about her daughter’s schooling.
Photos from Rustam and SW’s wedding day have circulated online, some showing them holding up their marriage certificate, confirming that the union is legally recognized.
The South Sulawesi provincial government say they had no legal jurisdiction to prevent Rustam and SW’s marriage, but now that it has happened they are focusing on ensuring that SW still receives her rights as a child.
“We want to ensure she gets her rights such as to a full education,” South Sulawesi Child Protection Services Head Nur Anti told Detik .
Nur added that the government has urged SW to delay her pregnancy until after she finishes formal schooling, but the reality is that it would be difficult for them to intervene in Rustam and SW’s private lives, whereas, if they weren’t legally married, the 13-year-old would be considered a victim of statutory rape.
The current legal age of marriage in Indonesia is 19 years old for men and 16 years old for women. However, the country’s 1974 Law on Marriage also includes a major loophole to this requirement which allows marriages to still be considered legal if they are done “in accordance” with religious belief, known as nikah siri.
As such, underage marriages that have been sanctified by religious courts or officials must still be officially recognized by the government — if not, many are satisfied with merely fulfilling religious or traditional requirements for marriage.

Nigerian manager, Gernot Rohr has selected the players to deputize for the regular Super Eagles captain, John Obi Mikel.

Leon Balogun
Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has picked three players to deputise for regular captain John Obi Mikel when the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations begin in Egypt tomorrow, Vanguard reports.
Ahmed Musa will continue in his role as vice captain, the duo of William Troost-Ekong and Odion Ighalo are behind the Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia forward respectively.
The four players will share the armband duties among themselves during the tournament pending on who makes the line up or stays on the pitch during substitutions in games at the tournament.
Leon Balogun who has captained the team ahead of the duo of William Troost-Ekong and Odion Ighalo wasn’t considered among one of the four players, a move which is surprising, considering the fact that he came to the team before the aforementioned duo.
Balogun made his debut for the Super Eagles before the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and if longevity was used in picking the four captains then the Brighton and Hove

EXPLAINER: How The Super Falcons Can Qualify For Round Of 16 Tonight

0

Despite losing two of their group state matches at the ongoing Women World Cup, the Super Falcons have a chance of qualifying for the knockout stages.

The Super Falcons
Nigeria’s hope of reaching the 2019 Fifa Women’s World Cup second round as one of the four “best losers” brightened with the 3-3 draw between Scotland and Argentina on Wednesday.
Brazil and China have already been certified for the round of 16. The World Cup group stages are coming to a close, with groups E and F set to be decided on Thursday night.
The Super Falcons’ progression to the knockout stages isn’t assured, there will be preying eyes on action unfolding tonight.
Coach Thomas Dennerby’s wards picked up three points from three group games and conceded four goals. They scored two goals and finished with -2 goal difference.
African representative Cameroon and Oceania side New Zealand have both lost their opening two games, though Cameroon sit ahead of New Zealand by virtue of having actually scored a goal.
The situation in the lower half of the table is much like Group E, only worse. Chile and Thailand have lost both opening games and have poor goal difference totals.
HOW NIGERIA QUALIFIES
If Chile can beat Thailand handsomely, with a minimum of three goal margin, Chile qualifies and Thailand on the other hand are all but eliminated. They need to make up a -17 goal difference. Near impossible.
If Chile does not score three goals or more, Nigeria qualifies. Thailand and Chile will be out.
Stalemate in Cameroon Vs New Zealand will also see the nine-time African champions pick a ticket to the next round.
If Chile wins 3-0, and Cameroon wins 2-0, Nigeria is out. If both team win with smaller goal margins, Nigeria will qualify.

How Nigerian Woman Was Jailed In Kirikiri For ‘Opening A Bank Account’ (Photo)

0

Details of how a Nigerian woman identified landed in prison for opening a bank account has been revealed.

Rosemary Godday and Adejoke of Flemer Project Initiative
According to Flemer Project Initiative (@the_flemer), an initiative which offers “free legal services to indigent awaiting trial detainees in Nigeria”, Godday, who sells fish and raincoats at Bar Beach and allegedly suffers from a communication deliquency had opened an account with an undisclosed bank and deposited over a million naira.
When she went to collect some money, she had “issues with disparity between her names with the bank and her real name” causing them to request that she gets an affidavit and that is where her problem began.
Read the complete story below:
“Late December 2018, Rosemary Godday, was sent to jail for owning a Bank Account. If you think this Sounds ridiculous, then you better go ahead to read the full story.

Before her arrest and consequent incarceration last December, Rosemary was a trader or better put, a hustler. She worked on the bar-beach as a fish seller, barbecue vendor, raincoats seller amongst other petty businesses that fetched her daily income.

While doing her business, she had a number of Bank Accounts, but was depositing the bulk of her money in a personal savings Account with a Commercial Bank that we’d rather not mention at the moment.

Last year, she had issues with disparity between her names with the bank and her real name e.g Roseline instead of Rosemary. So she went ahead to swear an affidavit to that effect.

Surprisingly, when she returned to the Bank with the sworn Affidavit, the bank refused to acknowledge her as the owner of the Account. This was done despite the fact that her signature matched the one on other official documents relating to the Bank Account in question.

The Bank not only denied her access to her Account, but in fact went ahead to arrest her for ‘fraud’ and forgery.

It didn’t take long for Rosemary to realize that all the money in her Account had vanished into thin air. Yes, someone had emptied her Account. According to her, the money in question was at least a million Naira (she strongly believes it’s actually much more).

This was how Rosemary found herself in police detention. She was eventually charged for forgery and stealing and has been in prison custody since December 2018.

We met Rosemary at Kirikiri female Prison during our visit in May and decided to take on her case.

Today was the second time we would be appearing in court as her legal Counsel. During our first appearance in court, the prosecution counsel failed to produce his complainant and the IPO/Witnesses.

Today, the Prosecution Counsel who apparently had no case against this lady, wanted to get another adjournment as neither the complainant nor any of the supposed witnesses appeared in court again. The Legal Counsel from FLEMER representing Rosemary wasn’t having any of this today

She instead requested for the magistrate to strike out the case, seeing that the prosecution was obviously not ready to proceed with the case and it will amount to injustice for the young lady to be sent back to jail. The magistrate obliged and went ahead to strike out the case.

Right now, Rosemary is a free woman, but she is still heartbroken as she has lost her life’s savings, has been unjustly incarcerated for owning a Bank Account and has to start all over again.

While we explore legal avenues to help her get justice over her missing funds, Rosemary still needs all the help she can get from the public.

Note: many of the details of this story are missing because the woman in question has some communication delinquency, which makes it difficult for her to communicate except the listener is really patient and understanding. We strongly believe this medical condition must have made it easier for her to be framed and unjustly left to rot in jail. Sigh  ”
At the time of filing this report, Flemer Project Initiative is yet to respond to Guardian Life’s request for more information.

Over 1,000 CJTF Members Die Fighting Boko Haram

0
The figure of casualties was given by a spokesperson of the group in an interview with Chinese news agency Xinhua.

Civilian Joint Task Force
At least 1,000 members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), a pro-government militia fighting the terror group Boko Haram in Nigeria’s northeast region, have been killed in six years.
The figure of casualties was given by a spokesperson of the group in an interview with Chinese news agency Xinhua.
Jubril Gunda, the spokesman who also doubles as the legal adviser of the CJTF, said the figure was collated between 2013 and 2019.
The CJTF, which was formed in 2013, comprises of different vigilante groups of young men armed with sticks to patrol and protect their local communities, especially in Borno State, the birthplace of Boko Haram following the indiscriminately launched attacks by the terror group in Maiduguri and other locations since 2009.
Gunda said the militia group members were killed during various operations while assisting Nigerian security agencies in the fight against the Boko Haram. Boko Haram has been blamed for the death of more than 20,000 people and displacement of 2.3 million others in Nigeria so far.
Due to the geographical spread and proximity of the CJTF to the general public, many Boko Haram atrocities were curtailed with their support, resulting in the loss of their (CJTF) own lives in the fight, the group’s mouthpiece told Xinhua in Maiduguri.
The group also has female members, with over 26,000 active members in Borno and the neighboring Yobe State, of which only 1,800 receive salaries (50 U.S. dollars per month).

“They were trained to carry out life-threatening volunteer activities. They are unarmed and carry only personal and locally donated swords, daggers, sticks and bows and arrows,” Gunda said.
During day and night routine raids, many terrorists were caught in their hideouts, arrested and handed over to local security agencies for further actions or interrogation. At such times, hundreds of members of the CJTF also sustained various degrees of injury, he said, noting that those who died left hundreds of orphans and widows uncatered for, the legal luminary said.
In the past, the CJTF had been accused of abuses, including slaughtering men beside a mass grave, diverting food destined for starving families and beating men and subjecting women and girls to systematic sexual violence in camps. Gunda denied these allegations, querying why people who swore to give their lives for the protection of the citizens of their country would engage in such inhuman practices.

“Many of them have died for the problems they didn’t create. Security is everyone’s business, and so, they gave all that they have, including their lives to fight for their fatherland. “These are some of the unsung heroes of this fight against Boko Haram,” Gunda added. Thanks In assisting the militia group, the government has so far donated more than 60 operational vehicles to aid its operations and service to their country.

Super Falcons Jubilate Wildly As Scotland, Argentina Draw , Securing Them to Round 16 (Video)

0

The Super Falcons have celebrated wildly after Argentina drew with Scotland in the ongoing FIFA Women World Cup.

There was wild jubilation on Wednesday in the Super Falcons’ camp in Rennes, France as Argentina and Scotland played out a dramatic 3-3 draw in their final Group D match at the ongoing Women’s World Cup.
The Argentines, who had a point before their encounter and a mathematical chance of qualification to the round of 16, found themselves on the backfoot as the Scottish cruised to a 3-0 lead before the South Americans staged a late fightback to force a 3-3 draw.
A live Instagram video recorded by Super Falcons captain, Desire Oparanozie, showed the Falcons in wild jubilations five minutes to the end of the game.
They were seen jumping out of their room, hugging and chanting victory songs, knowing that the hopes of qualifying for the round of 16 have been brightened.

Video: Super Falcons players, coach ecstatic after qualification for second round

740 people are talking about this
They rejoiced that the same rule which almost got them knocked out of the competition favoured them with the referee ordering a retake of Argentina’s penalty, which was earlier parried by the Scotland’s goalkeeper.
Meanwhile, there are worries among the country’s football fans over the fate of the Super Falcons qualifying for the round of 16 at the ongoing Women’s World Cup in France.
After France beat the Falcons 1-0 on Monday night in their last Group A game, the African champions have three points and minus two goals difference and could only qualify for the round of 16 as a best loser.
For finishing third in Group A, the Falcons’ chances of qualifying became slim and depend on the outcome of matches from other groups.
Of the best third-placed teams needed, two slots have already been filled by Brazil and China with six and four points respectively.
With the 3-3 draw played by Argentina and Scotland on Wednesday, Nigeria have a brighter chance of winning.
It favours the African champions if New Zealand hold Cameroon or if either side win, but not with three goals margin.
Also, Thailand should not lose by more than three goals to Chile having earlier conceded 17 goals already.

According to a report by TheCable, gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have killed four persons, including a soldier at Tanturon in Riyom local government area of Plateau state.
A security source told TheCable that the attackers suspected to be herdsmen burnt all the houses in the entire village.
He said they struck around 1pm and that a combined team of soldiers, policemen and local security guards engaged the gunmen in a battle for four hours.
“They came well prepared and the gun battle went on for four hours. At some point, we called for reinforcement,” the source said.
He said some soldiers drafted to the town were moved out in October, adding that the military authorities withdrew them because of peace in the community.
The source said the villagers who fled as a result of the attack had returned to the community after security operatives overpowered them.
TheCable could not immediately reach Tyopev Terna, police spokesman in Plateau, for comments.
There has been a prolonged dispute over land ownership between some communities and herdsmen in Plateau state.
